SUNDAY


Rules

  1. Must have a valid pass to enter the Austin Coffee Festival. Ticket does not get you entry to the Austin Coffee Festival. You must buy your ticket to the Austin Coffee Festival, separately. This ticket gets you entry into the Latte Art Competition qualifier round on Saturday. If you advance, you will be given an all-day wristband to continue to have access privileges to the Austin Coffee Festival, until you win or are eliminated.

  2. Single elimination. Must commit to participating in every round, if you advance.

  3. One latte entry per competitor will be allowed.

  4. Only the use of the free-pour technique will be permitted.

  5. Competitors will be called up two at a time and given no more than 5 minutes to complete their pour.

  6. The competitors are allowed 1 attempt to produce their beverage within the 5 minutes.

  7. During the competition time, the competitors are required to produce their design and present it onto a designated location for evaluation by the judges.

  8. Each competitor must carry their drink to the designated area, and they are responsible for any spills or disturbance of the drink’s appearance. Competitors are permitted to wipe spills from the cup and saucer with a clean cloth or napkin.

  9. A timekeeper will advise the competitor when there are 2 minutes remaining.

  10. The latte art will be judged by a panel of 3 judges. Each judge will consider the follow: Design uniqueness or classic appeal, level of difficulty, definition, symmetry, execution, contrast, and full cup.

  11. Competitors must use the grinders, espresso machine, and milk provided for the competition. No exceptions. These grinders will be set to an approximate setting, The competitors will be set up with a standard double shot but will be allowed to pull their shot short or long.

  12. Each Competitor may use their own milk pitcher, or the pitchers provided by the sponsor.

  13. Winner determined by judge decision, in their sole discretion.

  14. Winner announced at the conclusion of the competition on Sunday.
